HAN IN TOWN, Flushing

HAN IN TOWN is a series of photographs that asks visitors to consider what the foundations of a place are and what constitutes the fabric of a neighborhood in transition. Janice Chung captures these exchanges that take place in what was once the epicenter of the Korean American community in New York City – Flushing, Queens. Chung focuses on the various businesses that have continued to serve the Korean American community in Flushing through all of the neighborhood’s transformations.

A love letter to a community that raised Janice Chung

“This project is dedicated to all the moms and pops who fed me, cut my hair, and sacrificed everything for the next generation of Korean Americans”
